Six weeks before entering the field for their first match of the season, the NM State men’s basketball team released the schedule for their 115th competitive season.
NM State Fifth Year Men’s Basketball Coach Chris Jans announced the full 2021-22 Aggies schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies slate includes 15 home games – something Aggie loyalists have been clamoring for since March 5, 2020 – the last time the Crimson & White played at the Pan American Center.
“We are delighted to release our basketball schedule for the 2021-22 season,” commented Jans. âBeing able to host a large number of home games after not being able to play as is last season was a priority for our program.

A total of 13 games featuring 11 opponents from across the country will challenge the Aggies during their 2021-22 non-conference roster. On Tuesday, November 9, almost two years after playing inside the facility, NM State launches its 2021-22 campaign at the Pan American Center by taking on Big West’s enemy, UC Irvine, at 7:00 p.m.
The series of back-to-back NM State home contests to start the season continues on Saturday, November 13, when the Aggies entangle with age-old frontier rival UTEP at 7:00 p.m. ET. The meeting between the Aggies and the Miners will be the first in almost two full years. After the 219th showdown with rivals I-10, NM State travels to Myrtle Beach, SC, where they will play three games in the Myrtle Beach Invitational. The Aggies’ first invitational game will be against Davidson on Thursday, November 18, and two more games will follow on Friday, November 19 and Sunday, November 21.
The Aggies’ last two games in November will take place inside the Pan Am Center as the team host the New Mexico Highlands (Wednesday, November 24) and New Mexico (Tuesday, November 30) in the facility. . After their tilt with the Lobos, NM State embarks on a four-game away streak. This race includes matches at UTEP (Friday, December 3) and New Mexico (Monday, December 6) before the team heads west. NM State’s two-game swing along the West Coast includes confrontations at Loyola Marymount (Saturday, December 11) and Pac-12 opponent Washington State (Wednesday, December 15).
From there, the Aggies head home for their last two non-conference games of the regular season. The State of New Mexico hosts northern New Mexico (Saturday, December 18) and Cal State Fullerton (Tuesday, December 21) inside the Pan American Center.
THE WAC SCHEDULE
New teams and new road trips are part of the Aggies’ WAC 2021-22 roster that begins Thursday, December 30 with a clash at Seattle U. Days later, NM State rings the bell in 2022 welcoming the State. from Chicago on Saturday., Jan. 1.
A first trip to Beaumont, TX to face Lamar (Thursday, Jan.6) kicks off a two-game swing in Texas that ends Saturday, Jan.8 at UTRGV. The Aggies’ six-game streak against opponents from Lone Star State continues at home as NM State hosts Tarleton (Thursday, Jan.13) and Abilene Christian (Saturday, Jan.15). On their last road trip in January, the Aggies traveled to east Texas for high-profile showdowns at Sam Houston State (Thursday, January 20) and SFA (Saturday, January 22).
Six of the Aggies’ last 10 WAC games of the season will be played inside the Pan Am Center. This stretch begins on Saturday, January 29 when the Aggies begin their longest homestand of the season by hosting the Grand Canyon. From there, California Baptist (Thursday, February 3) and Seattle U (Saturday, February 5) arrive in town before NM State heads to Utah.
Starting with the WAC clashes at Dixie State (Thursday, February 10) and Utah Valley (Saturday, February 12), four of the Aggies’ five games will be played away. The only home game during that time is a first visit to Dixie State (Thursday, February 17) before Aggies’ trip to the Grand Canyon (Saturday, February 19) and Chicago State (Saturday, February 26).
NM State is shutting down its regular-season WAC program within the Pan Am Center limits when SFA (Wednesday, March 2) and Utah Valley (Saturday, March 5) come to town. From there, all eyes will be on the entertainment capital of the world for the WAC 2022 men’s basketball tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (Thursday-Saturday March 10-12).
